Graduation in Medicine at Bologna University, 1956 summa cum laude.
MD or PhD in Internal Medicine, Cardiology and Rheumatology.
Professor of Internal Medicine (1983-1991). Full Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine (1991- 2002) and Director of Angiology - Coagulation of the University Hospital of Bologna (1973-2002)
Author of more than 650 publications, many of them on leading international Journals as: Nature; Lancet; Circulation; British Medical Journal; European Heart Journal; Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis; and others.
Past President of the Italian Society on Haemostasis and Thrombosis, of the Italian Society of Vascular Medicine, and of the Mediterranean League on Thromboembolic Disease (MLTD).
Member of the Educational Committees of: the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis, and of the MLTD.
Scientific Director and Speaker in International Educational Courses in Cyprus, Morocco, Argentina, Tunisia and Romania (2003-2008).
