Stephen M. Lyon The Aga Khan University, UK

Stephen Lyon (BSc Goldsmiths, PhD, Kent) is the head of educational programmes and development and professor of anthropology at Aga Khan University’s Institute for the Study of Muslim Civilisations. Prior to joining the AKU in September 2018, he was a professor of anthropology and head of the anthropology department at Durham University, UK. He was the editor of history and anthropology from 2009 until 2014. He has published widely on conflict, resource management, patronage, kinship, and politics in rural and urban Pakistan. He has carried out longitudinal ethnographic research in the same Punjabi, Pakistani village for 20 years but has also carried out research on Pakistani Diaspora in the United Kingdom, Greece, and Japan. He was an early adopter of computational methods in the field and has published widely on the use of software tools to complement traditional ethnographic research methods.
