This is an excellent text that sets out the issues for health and social care professionals on a range of long term illnesses. The chapter on carers is thought provoking, but the whole text also provides a range of information which will be useful to the higher achievers on the module.

Good read
I liked this and found it most helpful in providing different perspectives on LTC's, which is essential if to provide effective care. My students come from very diverse areas and for those working with LTC's I will be strongly recommending this to them. It is succinct, utilises current explicit evidence base and encourages them to critically reflect on the policy impacts - all of which I encourage throughout my programme. Thank you.
An interesting book with novel chapters on early dementia, risk taking and dealing with the vulnerable.
The narratives identify the realities and frustrations of living with a long term condition, a true insight into the patients journey. Written in a sensitive and powerful way. The book was engaging and an easy ready whilst raising poignant points.
A useful resource which links the challenges of policy implementation with the experience of those living with long term conditions. Very insightful in places.
This book has been written very sensitively through 'snapshot' chapters of various long term conditions. It is interesting and promotes discussion through insightful commentary. I am happy to include it on my reading list in relation to the diabetes and pregnancy chapter, although the whole book is useful. A very poignant chapter written by Sir Terry Pratchett describing dementia through his eyes and experiences which I thoroughly recommend every healthcare professional should read as an example of a patient's journey.
