Build the Brain for Reading, Grades 4-12 has been developed in response to the large number of requests that the author receives from educators for a book that discusses how reading skills develop, both in young children and older students.
After reading the book, educators will be able to understand at what stage in reading competency each of their students is, and will have techniques to help those who are struggling. The book will help teachers understand brain development and how it relates to all aspects of literacy, including phonemic awareness, vocabulary, writing, fluency, and comprehension. Along with classroom activities that build skills in these areas, the book also includes current research and theory, information on how to create successful schools, and an appendix of reproducibles.
