John R. Couchman University of Copenhagen, Copenhagen, Denmark

Dr. Couchman is Professor of Extracellular Biology at The University of Copenhagen. A graduate of the University of Wales, UK, he has been a Professor at The University of Alabama at Birmingham and Imperial College London, before relocating to Denmark in 2007. He is a cell biologist with a research interest and over 200 publications in cell adhesion, signaling and the cytoskeleton.

In addition to being the immediate past Editor-in-Chief of The Journal of Histochemistry & Cytochemistry, Dr. Couchman is on the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Experimental Pathology and a contributor to Faculty of 1000. He is a past recipient of an Established Investigator Award from the American Heart Association and past Chair of the Pathobiochemistry Study Section of National Institutes of Health. He was recently (2017) the recipient of the Glick Award lectureship from the International Federation of Societies for Histochemistry and Cytochemistry.
