Rosanna K. Smith University of Illinois, USA

Rosanna K. Smith is an Associate Professor of Marketing and a John M. Jones Faculty Fellow at the Gies College of Business at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She holds a Ph.D. in Marketing from the Yale School of Management as well as a Master of Arts in Marketing and a Master of Philosophy in Marketing from the Yale School of Management. She also received her Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art from Yale University. Her research focuses on the topics of authenticity and aesthetics. She examines how brands convey authenticity to consumers, and how beauty standards and body modification techniques such as cosmetics and filters on social media influence perceived authenticity and consumer well-being. Her research has been published in top marketing and psychology journals such as Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Marketing, Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, and Journal of Experimental Social Psychology. Her work has been featured in popular press outlets such as the Harvard Business Review and the Wall Street Journal. She has been recognized by the marketing field for work including being named a 2023 Young Scholar by the Marketing Science Institute.
