Yasuo Uchiyama Juntendo University, Tokyo, Japan

Dr. Uchiyama is a Professor of Juntendo University Graduate School of Medicine, Tokyo, Japan and Chair of Department of Cell Biology and Neuroscience at Juntendo. Dr. Uchiyama is Director of Juntendo University Research Institute for Diseases of Old Age. He had been a full professor at Osaka University Graduate School of Medicine and Iwate Medical School, before locating to Tokyo in 2008. He is a cell biologist and neuroscientist with a research interest and over 260 publications in lysosomes, autophagy, neurodegenerative disorders, brain ischemia and cell death.

Dr. Uchiyama is Editor-in-Chief of Archives of Histology and Cytology and Board Member of Acta Histochemica et Cytochemica, Autophagy and Anatomy International, and had been Board Member of Journal of Histochemistry and Cytochemistry and Neuroscience Research. He is a president of International Committee of Symposia on Morphological Sciences, and past President of Japanese Association of Anatomists. He was awarded Seto Prize from Japanese Microscopy Society, Takamatsu Prize from Japanese Society of Histochemistry and Cytochemistry, and Anatomist Excellence Award from International Committee of Symposia on Morphological Sciences.
