A well written, accessible text. Adopted as highly recommended text for all Childhood Practice students.
Great for using with Professional Practice units.
A comprehensive but accessible book covering key aspects of reflective professional practice in the early years.
This is a helpful book for level 4 students in early childhood studies. It introduces the concept of reflective practice and offers some concrete examples / case studies as well as some indication of the way that debates in the literature can inform reflection.
Although supportive across the whole of the EYF FdA it is not sufficiently in depth in any one area therefore would be classed as supplementary.
This is a useful book for this module and Exploring leadership in early years settings. I facilitate NPQICL with University of Wolverhampton, I shall recommend this text for these participants too.
Student's very often find the concept of reflective practice very difficult to grasp. This book, particularly the first chapter, will aid student's understanding of the concept. A good resource as a course tutor delivering the Reflective Practioner module.
This is an excellent book for all early years tutors and students. It helps understand why reflection is an important part of the early years professional role
Reflection is often a difficult area for students when they start on a foundation degree or honours degree programme and Chapter 1 really helps to explain how to reflect on practice.
As an edited book, it shows a variety of authors and their contribution to Early Years practice. The "Points for Reflection" boxes are useful teaching tools to encourage further reflection and the "picture of practice" boxes give useful insights into what settings etc are doing.
Although an interesting read it was not what I thought it would be from the title! Was expecting more about being a reflective practitioner. I like the format of the book to stimulate further learning/research.
