Belgin San-Akca is Associate Professor of International Relations at Koç University, Istanbul and Associate Editor of Foreign Policy Analysis and the Journal of Global Security Studies. She is a recipient of Marie Curie Reintegration Grant, for her research on external state supporters of rebel groups. Broadly, her research areas lies at the intersection of international security, civil war, and terrorism. She published at highly reputed academic journals, such as Journal of Conflict Resolution, Journal of Peace Research, and International Studies Quarterly as well as European Commission’s online outlets. Her book, States in Disguise, was recently published by Oxford University Press in 2016. She was a Visiting Scholar at the Center for the Middle Eastern Studies at Harvard University (Summer 2011), a Visiting Scholar at the Political Science Department of University of California, Davis (2021-2022), and a Visiting Scholar at the Center on Democracy, Development, and the Rule of Law at the Freeman Spogli Institute, Stanford University (Summer 2024). She served as an at-large representative at the International Studies Association’s Governing Council. Her recent book, Energy Security and International Conflict and Cooperation, is forthcoming with Oxford University Press.
