Governance Review is a peer-reviewed journal that publishes theoretical, empirical and critical articles addressing one or more dimensions of all aspects of governance around the world. Interdisciplinary and multi-methodological, Governance Review hosts texts of all epistemological and ontological sensitivities, with the dual perspective of enriching positive and normative knowledge about governance, as well as nurturing public debates on the challenges and issues related to its contemporary exercise.

Across the world we witness upheaval with violent overthrows of governments, autocratic erosion of democratic institutions, extensive contestation of established power structures and widespread disillusionment of parts of the populations regarding liberal democratic institutions. Against these backdrops, Governance Review aims to disentangle the various power structures within and between different levels of government. The journal invites submissions about all aspects of governance at the local, subnational, national and supranational levels. It is global in focus and encourages submissions from all regions of the world.

All articles submitted to Governance Review undergo double anonymised peer review. The journal does not publish book reviews. All articles must be original research articles that have not been published elsewhere.
