Joan L. Bottorff, PhD, RN, FCAHS, FAAN University of British Columbia, Okanagan

Joan L. Bottorff, PhD, RN, FCAHS, FAAN, is a Professor in the School of Nursing, Faculty of Health and Social Development, and Director of the Institute for Healthy Living and Chronic Disease Prevention at the University of British Columbia, Canada. Her research program focuses on exploring gender-related influences in the context of health behaviours using a variety of qualitative methods. She is also working on methodological approaches to support knowledge translation to increase the benefit and potential impact of qualitative findings. Her work includes the development of a novel program to support fathers’ smoking cessation based on the findings of a decade of qualitative research. She held the position of Associate Editor, Qualitative Methodology for Qualitative Health Research for nearly a decade prior to accepting the role of Editor-in-Chief for Global Qualitative Nursing Research.
