Mirya R. Holman is a professor at the Hobby School of Public Affairs at the University of Houston. She is an expert on gender and politics, urban politics, and political behavior. She’s published widely in these areas, including books, The Hidden Face of Local Power, The Power of the Badge and Women in Politics in the American City. Her current work right now focuses on understanding the effect of women’s suffrage on legislative outcomes in the early 1900s, how consensus and conflict shape local politics, and various evaluations of ambition for political office.
