Signe Smith Jervelund University of Copenhagen, Denmark

 Signe Smith Jervelund is an Associate Professor of Health Services Research at the Department of Public Health at University of Copenhagen and Research Director of Danish Research Research Centre for Migration, Ethnicity and Health (MESU).

Her scientific main interest lies within the field of health services research with a particular focus on access to, use and effects of healthcare by different population groups, including social and ethnic inequalities in health, and health policy in both a national and international comparative perspective. Former and current research projects include migrants’ access to and utilization of health care services in Europe and the U.S.; quality of care, intervention studies regarding healthcare-seeking behavior, comparative analyses of healthcare systems; asylum-seeking children's mental health and access to health care in a Nordic comparative perspective; and coordination of preventive drug medication. Jervelund has been a co-founder of MESU, has been involved in several EU projects including mapping of registries and surveys to monitor the health of migrants and ethnic minorities in the EU, and is deputy project leader of a Nordic multi-disciplinary collaborative research project which is investigating the trajectories within health, education and labour market from childhood to young adulthood in refugees in the four Nordic countries in a comparative manner. Jervelund is Director of the Scientific Committee of Danish Public Health Society.

Jervelund has authored and co-authored articles in journals such as Journal of Youth and Adolescence, Cancer, Ethnicity and Health, Social Psychiatry and Psychiatric Epidemiology, European Journal of Public Health, International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, BMC Public Health and International Journal of Public Health.
