Clinical. He was chairman of the urology section, Telemark Hospital, Norway 1988-2007, chairman of the Urology Department, Aarhus University Hospital 2007-2012 and became head urologist, Urology Department at Oslo University Hospital in 2013.Academic. He finished his MD at the University of Oslo in 1976 and became Dr. Med.Sci.at the University of Oslo in 1988. He was professor in medicine (urology) and chairman of the Norwegian Institute of Urology at University of Tromsoe, Norway 1993-2001, visiting professor at The Norwegian Cancer Registry 2000-2001, professor in medical science, Telemark University College, Norway 2002-2005 and professor II in urology at the University of Aarhus, Denmark 2007-2012.
Currently, he is adjunct associate professor in experimental urological surgery at the Institute of Clinical Medicine, University of Aarhus, Denmark and full professor of urology at the University of Oslo, Norway and responsible for development of urological research strategy. He has a broad field of interests with minimally invasive treatment of prostate and renal cancer and urogenital infections being his main clinical and research interests.

He holds membership of several urological associations and is honorary member of the Hungarian Association of Urology.
