SAGE Announces Social Science Impact Writing Contest

October 28, 2019

SAGE Publishing has launched a new contest for social and behavioral scientists to share the real-world impact of their research and help make the case that research in these fields can and should be used to improve the human condition. Winning stories will be published on Social Science Space, an online network for the social and behavioral science (SBS) community sponsored by SAGE, and the authors of the stories will receive a $500 honorarium.

Submissions must:

  • Fall between 500 and 1,000 words
  • Include what the entrant studied, how the topic was studied, and how the lessons learned were applied—or could be applied—to either public issues or other researchers aiming to demonstrate impact.
  • Be submitted by December 2nd.

The contest is a part of SAGE’s initiative to demonstrate, measure, and promote social science impact beyond citation counts. Earlier this year, the publisher released a whitepaper to lay the groundwork for improving SBS impact metrics.

To learn more about the contest and submissions, please visit Social Science Space, the online home for the SBS impact conversation. Please email pr@sagepub.co.uk with any questions.
