SAGE launches resource of extensive, interactive social science data from across the U.S.
"SAGE Stats" includes new collection of data from U.S. cities, counties, and metropolitan areas
Los Angeles, CA - SAGE today announces the launch of SAGE Stats, an interactive statistical resource that provides vetted, hard-to-find data from private and public sources to students and researchers. SAGE Stats includes both state and local data, and will add future statistical collections that cover the broad range of the social sciences.
Using SAGE Stats, researchers can easily find the data points needed to support their research; visualize and compare diverse data sets by creating specialized maps, tables, and graphs; and download data for further manipulation or to combine it with their own figures to create new insights. SAGE Stats covers a diverse range of social science topics such as healthcare, crime, education, employment, religion, and government finances.
Newest to the SAGE stats platform is Local Stats, a collection of comparable data from U.S. counties, cities, and metropolitan areas across all 50 states on a variety of topics in the social sciences. Local Stats’ standardized data is presented on an easy-to-use interface for researchers of all types and includes more than 3,000 data series organized by geography and time.
With the carefully vetted and normalized data found in Local Stats, researchers can access dynamic maps with timelines at the county, city and metropolitan statistical area levels to create and export tables and line graphs that compare data within one variable or across multiple variables.
“At SAGE, we listen to our library and research partners to design resources that promote speed, creativity, and reliability for real-world research situations,” stated Michele Sordi, Vice President, SAGE Editorial. “With SAGE Stats, our goal was to promote data literacy for students and researchers who may have trouble finding and interpreting the figures they need to support their research, and ultimately to create a single-search, one-stop shop for social science data. We look forward to continuing to develop the platform and to add more data collections in the future.”
