The Landscape of Qualitative Research
- Norman K. Denzin - University of Illinois, Urbana - Champaign, USA

The Landscape of Qualitative Research, Fourth Edition aims to put the field of qualitative research in context. It offers background on the field, starting with history, then action research and the academy, and the politics and ethics of qualitative research. It then isolates what we regard as the major historical and contemporary paradigms now structuring and influencing qualitative research in the human disciplines. The chapters move from competing paradigms (positivist, postpositivist, constructivist, critical theory) to specific interpretive perspectives, feminisms, racialized discourses, cultural studies, sexualities, and queer theory. It concludes with consideration for the future of qualitative research.
Highly recommended for those undertaking qualitative research at Masters level or above
It is a good book for students to refer to when designing qualitative research. However it should be recommended at a postgraduate level.
This book comprehensive coverage of qualitative research will help students and researchers to understand and consequently put them in better position to express themselves more clearly in the world of research. .. Dr Sam Erevbenagie Usadolo
An essential text for postgraduate students embarking of qualitative research
Excellent book on qualitative research with lots of perspectives. The standard reference for qualitative research methodology.
This is a very good book focusing on making qualitative research more relevant to day to day issues. I particularly liked the chapter on Action research which I thought was one of the best I read on the subject.
Provides a broad and nuanced overview of the different methods within qualitative research. Works well for students at masters level or higher.
Excellent text - will be a very useful addition for students doing dissertations based on qualitative research
This is the bible for qualitative research - don't leave home without it.
Thorough and detailed review of the context of qualitative research which concentrates more on paradigms than methods. Hence I would recommend this for postgraduate rather than undergraduate courses for further reading.
