This is a fantastic book and one which I will use in work with students within the classroom. I have recommneded it and reffered to it and will also be using it in the development of an updated module for 2013 which includes study skills for social workers. Thank you for this work.
A very accessible book for students with dyslexia, non-dyslexic students and tutors. Gribben's book "walks the talk" in that the pages are tinted a cream colour, a plain font is used and the font size makes reading more accessible. She speaks to the student in language that is readily understood. I have used the resources from the companion website to support the chapters. It is very evident that the author has used her relevant experience to write this book and to devise the activities.
This is a valuable read for meeting the specific needs of students managing this condition.
I ordered inspection copies of two study skills guides for dyslexic students (both, incidentally published by SAGE). I wanted to see why SAGE published two and what the difference was between them. I ordered two guides, planning to choose between them to recommend one for my students. I have put both guides on my reading list: Hargreaves for the CD Rom and Gribben for the excellent text, which is written and designed with utmost care to communicate to dyslexic students. Not all of my dyslexic students would like the Hargreaves text, but I expect all of them to find the Gribben book accessible.
very useful practical approach offering strategies and tips as to how a student can be successful. works well across UG and PG.
