Study Skills for Nurses
The book takes a broad theme of skills learning. There are good examples and illustrations to enable students to apply their learning to different aspects of the curriculum.
Whilst there are many similar texts on learning skills this will be a help to pre registration stduents in their early stages of study. Its accesible and highlights relevant points that need to be understood to build a rounder academic competence.
I will not be asking the library to purchase this book just yet. I may use this book with our first year ODP students and see if the topics covered assist them in their first ever semester at University and then consider ordering more.
Good basic book, which gives an overview of some important aspects of skills expected by health professions.
Good links to the NMC new domains. Good exercises for students to complete. Usefull for all years especially Year 1
An excellent introduction for all students on the nursing programme. Good emphasis on the inportance of interpersonal skills in nursing practice, together with core skills of numeracy and literacy. The chapter on learning through reflection is a must read for all practice disciplines.

The book falls out of my module remit. Very useful for students first few years of training. Well organised chapters. Great links to NMC standards and skill clusters.
This is a very useful book in relation to the content and structure of the chapters - easy to navigate and understand with excellent topics and advice for the student, for both pre-registration and post-registration learners. This book is more readable and coherent in organisation than other books along similar themes and is really is aimed at the right level.
The structure and presentation allows ease of reading. The variety of scenarios/activities better/improve students' understanding of importance of learning, communication and related nursing skills.
