Although the book has at times a few informative graphical representations, I feel it might not be concrete enough for my students.

A short volume but provides all the basics. Clearly presented. An excellent introduction.

A really clear introduction to regression, well-pitched for graduate students. The introductory chapters provide an excellent background to the more advanced topics, e.g. on interactions. It's also slim and light enough to carry around and dip in and out of.

Thank you very much for sending a complimentary copy of Kahane's book. I do not have the time or energy to mess with sending books back, so I very much appreciate that you are willing to do this (and I try to be very careful about what I request)!

RE: my reason not to adopt this text, I really like the clear, detailed treatment offered in the early chapters re: basic linear regression, and I may *recommend* that students pick this up for that reason. The main limitation of this book when it comes to my course is that there is only one chapter on multiple regression and it is very basic. In contrast, multiple regression gets the lion's share of attention in my semester-long course (over 50% of the meetings) and we get deeply into intermediate-advanced issues such as categorical predictors, moderators, and mediators. Kahane's Ch. 4 on MR is short and doesn't address these at all. On top of this, Chs. 5 & 6 jump to topics that are not very relevant to psychologists (showing the author's non-psychology roots). As a result, there's just not quite enough offered by this book to justify making students buy it.

I will say though that I have not settled on a text for next Spring (decision due in a few months) and I will be changing from the text I used this Spring (Meyers et al.). Right now, I'm leaning toward Warner's text, which is readable, comprehensive, and goes over MR at just about the right level of detail for my course. So I'm leaning towards another Sage text....

Well, I hope this feedback has been helpful.

This book was easy to understand for undergraduate students and served as a good introduction to basic regression analysis used in Econometrics. A few simple data sets provided by the text provided continuity between the chapters, but additional data sets are needed to provide students with more practical experience. It is helpful to have a more extensive econometrics text on reserve for students as a reference. Instructors are will likely want to supplement the book with supplementary materials in order to cover some topics more extensively like Time Series and Logistic Regressions.
