It has a chapter on attribution of sources and avoidance of plagiarism, and there is a useful brief review of academic versus professionals writing for the press and for writing presentations.

This is an excellent book for both nursing and midwifery students. It is comprehensive and covers a wide range of academic skills such as studying hints and tips, how to prepare a presentation avoid plagiarism in addition to writing skills for different types of assessment such as essays reports, narratives. It is easy to read and students can dip in and out of chapters according to their individual learning needs. The inclusion of samples of students work is particularly useful. I have recommended this as essential reading for my students.

I think many of my students will find this book helpful for their academic writing. Incorporating some of the very useful building blocks for structuring writing, to some of the basics (but which cause problems for lots of students), such as when to use capital letters. It also contains some useful information about communicating online - again useful for my learners who use email and discussion forums extensively throughout their course.
This book has already been loaned to numerous students since i received it, (it is hardly on my desk actually)! They find it easy to read, clear and informative. A number of them have said they will purchase it. I can't give specific feedback as i haven't really had the opportunity to read it, one of my first year students has it at the moment!
A nice, user friendly textbook written in an 'approachable' style students may find welcoming.
