Learning Skills for Nursing Students

This is a book that I have found to be very informative. It has something for every learner, whether it be about reflective practice or activities to help them strengthen their maths skills. I have certainly been recommending it as a good tool to prepare my students for their nurse training.
I have included it on the book list for the new cohort starting in September as well as asking the college library to invest in some copies for other students to look at.

I found this book extremely useful for my year 1 personal students, I particularly liked the writing style advice section, the relation to the EWSC's amd the self directed activities. The book is clearly written, at the right level of challenge and not being too complicated.

This book has been long awaited coming. It will support all Health & socal care students with their studies. The book has been written in clear detail which will enable the student to dip in & out off when reqiured. Overall the book covers all accepts of learning and the skills reqiured.

I think this book has a great deal of merit for junior pre-registration nursing students and possibly even for those considering entering nursing (e.g. on an access course) and as a refresher for others. The chapters are generally reasonable well presented and though there may be a little duplication (e.g. referencing information) this is no bad thing. I did find some of the boxed information, particularly in the first few pages a little overpowering and think perhaps the introduction could be less fussy. On p114 there is comment about using material from the internet and I think a health warning about copyright would be useful here. I appreciate you do discuss palgiarism though am not sure junior students would appreciate this includes material from a range of sources, not just text. Overall a useful book. I will be happy to include on my reading list and ask our library to stock, if not already done so.

It is practical, full of exercises and current literature to support ideas. It thoroughly explains theory and relates it to practice.

Attempts to achieve too much within its length, consequently superficial in several areas. Could be more interactive. May be useful to some students but not the ideal text.

I like the book structure, that the material can be adapted to teach on the O.D.P. programme.

Good support book for the firstyear students, recommended that the library have iin stock

The book is clear and concise and extremely useful as a guide for students in an educational setting and beyond.
